Joe Murphy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s of Arts in 1998 and furthered his education by earning a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) in 2007. After graduating from Pitt, he immediately embarked on a career in finance.
An internship in the pits at the Chicago Board of Trade led to a lifelong passion for financial markets. Rising to a corporate Regional Vice President for a major insurance company back in 2000, Joe directed his efforts toward creating relationships and educating top financial brokers throughout the East Coast. It was a tremendous opportunity to gain insight from some of the best financial planners in the industry. He was also a frequent speaker for public and private seminars, teaching people the nuances of variable investment vehicles and tax code.
With most of his family located back in NW Indiana and Illinois, Joe left the corporate world and returned to the area in 2005 to focus on building his personal practice in financial services. He expanded the firm to incorporate Amber’s expertise in tax code and law to create Murphy Wealth Management and MWM Advisory Group, LLC, a registered investment adviser in Indiana.
Joe operates in the firm as a senior financial and investment adviser, as well as an IRS tax preparer. By focusing on a truly holistic approach, the firm is able to consider multiple angles to help clients make prudent financial decisions. Relationships are a main focus for Murphy Wealth Management. Both Joe and Amber have been proudly serving three generations of families in NW Indiana.
In addition to exploring life with his family, Joe is a firm believer in technical analysis and is a day trading enthusiast. He is also an avid sports fan and rarely misses his Pitt Panthers compete in the ACC. H2P!
Joe enjoys playing golf locally and also learning disc golf over the last few years with the family. He loves spending time outdoors, going on hikes and enjoying nature. While indoors, Joe has regularly maintained several large fish aquariums and loves to grow different varieties of house plants. As a huge animal lover, Joe can often be found both talking with (and answering) the family’s 100-lb. Labrador, Fury.
